Try them all. You can't hurt anything. Windows will just tell you that no information about your hardware is stored in that location. WuGgaRoO wrote:. FTL wrote:. Yeah, that's the right icon on the system tray.
And if you wouldn't mind checking to make sure you have the blue tooth device installed in the Device manager. I am running into major problems with this now. If you have all of those and it lets you add devices I was wondering if you could look to see what driver you have installed. I think if I get this to work then the other two I am going to give up on. Well, thanks to all for the help on this site Feeling pretty smug as I've downgraded my Studio in under 24 hours thanks to various online resources.
Thought I should give something back and recommend my own best practice for anyone downgrading one of the Studio range. It seems all models were created pretty much equal - I ended up following the instructions for downgrading a here I got everything important working in under an hour once I'd found this resource. Be aware the first download link doesn't work but the mirror does There are still a couple of funnies in my device manager I'm pretty sure there isn't and never will be an XP driver for this - I guess the is the one part of the machine which truely is available in Vista eeeugh!
So just disable it and try to pretend it's not there in device manager with a big X next to it. I also have a Net Adapter showing with an exclamation mark! I think this might be Bluetooth since I've failed to complete the supplied installation and have a interface listed elsewhere but I'm not sure on this.
Nothing I've tried has managed to get the install to complete so I've given up. This really is no big deal - have never used Bluetooth on a PC and my mobile phone which is my only other Bluetooth device has a perfectly good USB cable. Still the geek in me is a bit ashamed about 2 devices not installed properly - I'd be interested in any ideas on how to rectify the above. But if you do give up at this point as I have you're not alone.
Still reckon we've pulled one over on Dell and Microsoft which is the main thing. Thanks again for all the help and good luck. Hello all, this is my first post on the forum yay! I found the above thread very helpful, but was wondering since I didn't see it mentioned and hopefully this isn't too stupid of a question lol E T 2. Elsewise it bombed as soon as Windows tried to startup. I read somewhere that a SATA driver has to be added to the installation during the install and it takes a floppy drive.
I have no floppy drive. Will a USB work. I would be thankful for any help on this one specifying drivers along with procedure etc. This explains the slipstreaming proccess and it is with a CD disk. But the SATA drivers need to be slipstreamed to the disk for the install. I got the slip stream to work after some time spent on it and the ATI driver works. However I'm stumped on where to locate an Audio driver. Also I have occasional blue screens from driver conflicts I think, although I haven't been able read the blue screen message very closely as it is only present for a moment before the reboot process starts.
Is there any good way to go about trying to isolate the problem s here? I find that the more hardware drivers I disable the longer between blue screens. I'm down to about one every 2hrs. Some of the third party sites have driver detectives and whatnot. Are any of these worth it? I spent lot of time downloading and installing but the quality of those drivers is not the best The microphone driver still doesn't work and the mic line in is not recognised You have to install with AHCI turned on or off, going the opposite way after installation, results in kablooey.

Let me list the order I've used my Dell Premier account and my research skills to find the drivers for the chipset and nothing On your model, the webcam may also needed.
From all my research, there seems to be a ton of Studio downgrade nightmares. Also, my microphone doesn''t work EDIT: here could be a problem.. Leonardo wrote:. Work on the important stuff first.
