Apps purchased in Store for Business and Education will work only on Windows This can even spill over into other accounts on the same PC, so I do not recommend even allowing a work or school account on your personal PC, or if you do I would install it in Dual Boot so it is in an entirely separate install with a Dual Boot menu.
And as I also explained you need to contact the IT desk at the school where you obtained the license to see what they recommend. These Education licenses are most often activated using Volume Licensing from the school's own on-site servers, and must check in regularly with those servers or expire. Most schools and jobs do not allow these licenses to continue once you leave the school or job.
This needs to be discussed with them and fully understood If they are willing to let you keep the license, then I'd also ask them how to avoid the Group Policy that is restricting your free use of your own PC. Most will not budge on this because it is applied across the board to all of their school PC's.
The solution may only be to wipe the drive to reinstall Home version with your own Microsoft or Local Account, then buy a Home License if the PC did not come with one. This is one irony that I often see: A factory installed PC comes with a Windows Home LIcense tatooed to the BIOS chip on motherboard, but students will abandon it and use the school supplied account which requires installing Education version that uses the school's volume licensing server.
