We will take you on a journey through the darker side of the industry looking at gambling, fraud and competitive doping as well as understanding the psychology behind the elements that have gone into creating the esports culture worldwide. Students will learn the practical process of planning an experiential campaign.
They will explore the key elements of creating a successful experiential campaign, how to identify the objectives they want to achieve, as well as the audience they want to reach.
Students will research and analyze brand activations, as well as the recent and most successful experiential campaigns currently operating in the Esports space. Using this knowledge, they will create their own experiential campaign, designed to be used at an Esports event. Key to the delivery of a successful event is ensuring access to appropriate resources and therefore the Esports event manager must understand resourcing requirements for their industry.
The module focuses on the organisation as a transformation system and the principles underpinning effective resource allocation. In this module students will be tasked with the planning and staging of a single-player Esports event. They will be given the opportunity to apply the experiential campaign and events resourcing concepts and theories developed to date, exploring how these can be applied to a variety of Esports events.

This module explores the environment surrounding Live Esports Broadcast Production, its importance in relation to practical implementation and the roles that exist within this sector.
The module looks at the different aspects of live esports broadcast production, the technical implementations involved and the multitude of roles available alongside their responsibilities. You will study the evolving esports industry and what factors will influence its future development. You will also learn to use business models to estimate market growth and forecast market sizes and revenue streams as well as studying the major players in the ecosystem.

In this module students will be tasked with the planning and staging of a multiplayer Esports event. They will be given the opportunity to apply the concepts, planning knowledge and theories developed to date.
Students will develop an Event Management Plan outlining the scope and scale, resources and budget for their Esports event, with the opportunity to pitch their plan in a bid to become part of a 'live' Esports and Immersive Technologies Festival. You will learn how to complete audience research, create user journeys and touch points as well as making sure you stay on brand through style guides and image libraries. Shoutcasters and Hosts are a vital part of the esports experience. They are celebrities in their own right and are sought out for many high paid jobs. You will research, write and present both pre-recorded audio visual reports and live events as shout caster, stage host and broadcast anchor as well as covering game analyses and honing your technical knowledge and interview skills.
This module will cover the planning process of creating an Esports event. Students will identify appropriate tools, research and methods of application needed to promote and execute an Esports event successfully. Exploring the different types of events and the activations they can attract; students will use this information to create and deliver an event pitch. This module looks at both the ethics in esports and the regulatory structure and the risk that involves. You will also draw from the experience of other sports in the field of online gambling, offshore illegal gambling, integrity agreements and examine how sporting contests are protected from threats of match-fixing and corruption.
Explore the anatomy of an Esports team, from drafting to coaching, brand building to brand content creation. Student will analyse past and present teams, learning about what goes into making a successful team and creating a popular team brand. You will draw together the experience gained from attending and hosting esports events, and the academic knowledge gained, to plan, develop, stage and manage their own, large-scale esports event.
Working in teams, you will bring together your network of contacts and experience to produce an event which is likely to attract key gamers and generate significant media interest. You will explore and analyse current issues in esports. Contemporary in nature, the issues covered will naturally change as the course progresses, but are likely to include key areas such as regulatory structure and player contracts, professionalisation and rise of player agents, the 'spectacle' of esports, subversive practices, sexism in the video games industry and gender orientation in esports games culture.
